ASTON SEALS participates actively in fighting Brain Stroke.
Brain Stroke is a disease that affects the brain as a result of interruption of normal blood flow to brain tissue. There are two types of stroke:
- ISCHEMIC, due to the closure of an artery in the brain. In this case we speak of cerebral ischemia: the cells that were fed by the artery first undergo a heart attack and die. Cerebral ischemia is the 85% of all cases of strokes. An artery can be closed because within it formed a clot that closes once an irregularity of the artery wall itself (in this case we speak of cerebral thrombosis) or because the artery is reached by parties clots from afar ( “embolus”, usually embolus starts from the heart or from atherosclerotic plaques of the arteries that carry blood the brain; in this second case we speak of cerebral embolism).
- HEMORRHAGIC, due to rupture of cerebral artery This is known as cerebral hemorrhage. This represents 15% of cases of strokes. The most frequent cause is blood pressure too high, resulting in the rupture of normal or malformed blood vessels, called aneurysms.
